COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST (CLAT)

CLAT is an all India entrance examination conducted on rotation by 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their under-graduate and post-graduate degree programs (LL.B. & LL.M.). Some of the NLUs that consider CLAT scores for admissions are NALSAR, NLSIU, WBNUJS, NLU, NLIU and GNLU

 

Common Law Admission Test is conducted every year for students who have either completed XII or are currently in XII (in any stream) and want to secure a position at a Law university and pursue a career in Law.

NOTIFICATION OF CLAT

  • Admission Notification Release: 3rd week of December
  • Application Form Availability: 1st January 2020
  • Last date for form submission : 31st March 2020 (11:59 PM)
  • Downloading of Admit Card Starts: 3rd week of April 2019
  • Date of CLAT Entrance Exam: 12th May 2020 (3:00 PM to 5:00 PM)
  • Answer Key Release:                  3rd week of May 2020
  • Representation of questions or key: Till 3rd week of May 2020
  • Uploading of amended answer key : 4th week of May 2020
  • Result/Merit List Declaration: Last week of May 2020

UG Programme(LLB)  10+2 •       45%marks(Unreserved/OBC/SAP)

•       40%marks for SC/ST

No upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT
PG Programme(LLM)  (LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)) •       55%marks(Unreserved/OBC/SAP)

•       50%marks for SC/ST

No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT

Syllabus & Exam Pattern for CLAT UG Programme

1.  MODE ONLINE
(a) Maximum Marks   200
(b) Duration of CLAT-2018 Exam   02:00 Hours
(c) Multiple-Choice Questions   200 questions of one mark each
(d) Subject areas with weight-age:
1. English including comprehension 40 Marks
2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs 50 Marks
3. Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability) 20 Marks
4. Legal Aptitude 50 Marks
5. Logical Reasoning 40 Marks
(e) Negative Marking   0.25 Mark for each wrong answer

Syllabus & Exam Pattern for CLAT PG Programme

1.  MODE ONLINE
(a) Maximum Marks   150
(b) Duration of CLAT-2018 Exam   02:00 Hours
(c) Multiple-Choice Questions   150 questions of one mark each
(d) Syllabus  Questions will be asked from the following areas of Law:
1. Constitutional Law 50 Marks
2. Jurisprudence 50 Marks
3. Other Law Subjects such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR etc. 50 Marks
(e) Negative Marking   0.25 Mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
