Minimum height: Men 5 feet 7 inches
Minimum height: Women 5 feet 3 inches
Chest measurement (for men only) Unexpanded: 33 inches
Chest measurement (for men only) expanded: 34.5 inches

THE PRELIMINARY COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF TWO PAPERS AS GIVEN BELOW:

Candidates are selected based on their performance in two stages:

  1. PCS Preliminary Competitive exam and
  2. Main Competitive exam (written and viva voice).

Preliminary Exam (Paper-II Civil Services Aptitude Test)

1 Reading comprehension; Punjabi and English language comprehension, antonyms and synonyms, grammar and sentence formation.
2 Logical reasoning, analytical and mental ability
3 Interpersonal skills including communication skills
4 Basic numerical skills; numbers, magnitudes, percentages, numerical relation appreciation
5 Data analysis; Graphic presentations, charts, tables, spreadsheets.

PCS :  MAIN EXAM SYLLABUS

1 ENGLISH :

SECTION-A : Comprehension, Precis Writing, Letter Writing, Essay Writing ,Translation.

SECTION-B : Grammar

2 Essay Paper : Candidate need to write three short essays in English or Punjabi on specified topic in the given choices. They are expected to write to the point on a selected topic in an orderly manner to obtain better marks.
3 PUNJABI :

SECTION-A: Andetha Pehra(comprehension), Sankehp Rachna(Precis Writing), Arji (letter writing), Lekh Rachna(Essay Writing), Anuvaad(Translation).

SECTION-B: Vayakaran (grammar)

4 General Studies-I : History, Geography and Society
5 General Studies-II : Indian Constitution& Polity, Governance and International Relations
6 General Studies-III : Economy, Statistics and Security Issues
